Julie Crosby
Julie Crosby is a producer and career strategist with more than 30 years of experience working across independent film, professional theater and digital media. She has produced projects for stages and screens of all sizes, with budgets ranging from micro-budget productions to $10+ million.
Across formats and scales, Julie brings clear-eyed strategic insight to project development, financing, production, distribution and marketing — grounded in a deep understanding of how creative careers and projects are actually sustained over time.
Julie is a founding partner of Cromono International, a production services company with offices in New York, Paris, and Taipei. Alongside her partners, Cromono has supported more than 300 projects across theater, concerts, digital media and film.
She holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and has been recognized with the Lilly Award for Outstanding Producer and named to Forbes’ 40 Women to Watch Over 40. Her sci-fi feature Alien Intervention is currently streaming on Amazon Prime, Tubi, and Apple TV. Her musical feature Original Sound is now in post-production.

Jane Applegate
Showbizing Strategies was originally co-founded with Jane Applegate, a veteran producer, educator and author.
Jane is the executive producer of Remarkable Women: Out of the Shadows, a global episodic series featuring stories of accomplished women behind the success of iconic men, which received development funding from Creative Europe.
Jane is a member of the Producers Guild of America. Prior to producing, she was a financial reporter and syndicated small-business columnist for the Los Angeles Times. She is the author of multiple books on small-business management and producing, including Hair on Fire: An Insider’s Guide to Producing for the Big and Small Screen.
Jane is no longer involved in the day-to-day work of Showbizing Strategies.
